Uniquely expressive Chinese soprano, Quan Chen, has most recently been praised by respected New York opera forums as a “perfect Puccini soprano” as well as from Operawire, who described Ms. Chen as giving a “highly passionate conclusion” to her performance.
Ms. Chen’s upcoming performances have her singing solos with the National Chorale at Lincoln Center, the Lake Forest Symphony in Chicago, Opera Festival of Chicago, concerts with the Ivy League Clubs of New York City, as a featured soloist at the 2020 Chinese Lunar New Year Spectacular VI at Carnegie Hall, and an upcoming performance singing in Italy with the Italian superstar tenor, Andrea Bocelli.
Ms. Chen most recently won the Puccini Ambassador Medal at the 2019 Premiere Opera Foundation International Vocal Competition through which she has been given the privilege to work privately on Puccini heroines with world-renowned operatic soprano, Aprile Millo, who praised Ms. Chen as an “extremely sensitive artist with a special and deep soul.” Career highlights for Ms. Chen include command performances for Prime Minister Jiabao Wen (Guangzhou) and President Jintao Hu (Shanghai World Expo), and a solo performance with the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra in the Spring International Music Festival celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (Shanghai Symphony Hall). Ms. Chen also made a triumphant debut at Carnegie Hall with the sold out Chinese New Year Spectacular V in 2019, performing with the internationally acclaimed and late tenor, Francisco Casanova, which was enthusiastically covered by The New York Times and Fox Television.
Ms. Chen is a dedicated artist who is a member of the Shanghai Musicians Association and who holds two Master degrees in Vocal Performance from both the Shanghai Conservatory in China, and the Manhattan School of Music in New York City.
